Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

Dear Parents of Year 6 and Children,

Welcome to Year 6 – your final year of primary school at St Matthias! I hope that you have enjoyed the summer and that you are well rested and ready for a busy year ahead!

In Year 6 this year it is going to be very exciting, where you will learn lots of new things, work hard and most importantly have fun!

Over the course of this year we will cover some very interesting topics, these include; The Maya, The Victorians, World War 11 and even Blackpool vs Birmingham. We will be turning back time and discovering all we can about these amazing topics. Maybe you could share some information to our class that you have found about these? I am also very excited to share all of the fantastic books we have in Year 6, including one of my favourites ‘Goodnight Mister Tom’. In maths we will be working on using our already taught skills and progressing to the next step - including long division.

Although Year 6 may seem a little daunting, please don’t worry, we are going to have a great year together getting ready for your next important big step! I can’t wait to see your smiling faces; let’s try hard, be ready, be safe and most importantly be proud!
