Survival Day—Years 5 and 6
On the 30th of March we woke up feeling excited because it was Year 5 and 6 Survival Morning. Unfortunately, it was pouring with rain so we quickly got into our groups and started our activities.
Our first activity was map reading. The map was a birds eye view of KS1 buildings and playground. We plotted several sites and found many interesting objects. The wind chime could not be found so we improvised and found natural noises.
We moved onto problem solving, making paper cups to transfer water from the bottom to the top of the playground.
After problem solving with Mrs Cullerne, we made our way to the school field for open fire bread making. Mrs Edmunds made us very aware of safety issues.) Kyle said “I’ve never tasted bread like this before.” We finished off with some songs around the camp fire.
The final activity was shelter building. This year we had to erect tents. Some of the group were campers so they found this activity quite easy. Wee pleased to say a big thank you to all of the staff and can we do it again? Please?
