Year 6

Year 6 had a fabulous day at @Bristol. The children loved exploring the Science Museum and were fascinated by the Planetarium where we took a trip around our Solar System.

Welcome back to the Summer Term.

 

This term we will be shooting off into Space as 'Star Gazers' to find out more about the wider universe. We will investigate the experiences of Tim Peake and what it is really like to live in space on the International Space Station.

Our theme of space will be included across the curriculum have a look at our Summer Curriculum Newsletter to find out more.

 

Wax Works Museum

What a great morning we had today! Thank you to all of the parents who came along to see our Wax Works this morning.

 

The children had a fantastic time acting as Greek gods and goddesses and performing their speeches.

History Man Visit

 

Year 5 and 6 had a very exciting visit today - The History Man brought all of his weird and wonderful resources to St Matthias to help us learn more about the Ancient Greeks.

 

The best thing I found out was that in the Olympics

men collected sweat and oil from their bodies

for use in the hospital.-Caelan

 

 

What I found out is that Alexander the Great was the first person to ask for a real picture of him on a coin.-Saskia

 

I enjoyed when the History Man showed us all the weapons and what the greeks wore. - Jessica

 

 

I found out that they had birthing room.if it was a boy they would put an olive branch above the door. If it was a girl they would use dead wood.-William

Welcome Back to the Spring Term in Year 6!

This term we are 'Going Greek' in our Topic

The Bold, The Brave and The Brilliant.

Year 6 will be investigating the Ancient Greek civilization and how it has influenced our world today. We will also be looking at the geography of Greece and how this affected it's rise and fall. We will also be reading lots of Greek Myths and finding out about the Greek Gods and beliefs. 

 

Tudor  house

Year 6 had a fabulous day at Tudor House in Worcester. The volunteers were all in costume and talked us through lots of details about what life was like in Tudor times. We enjoyed exploring the old building and learning more about how Tudor buildings were made. We also got to play Tudor games and dress up in Tudor clothes.

Malvern Festival of Innovation

 

We had a brilliant day at The Malvern festival of Innovation!

Alongside chidlren from year 6-11 from lots of other local primary and secondary schools, Year 6 were able to explore lots of scientific ideas through the stalls and presentations held by local and national businesses, experts and entrepreneurs. They had to complete a business challenge to create their own invention to support a person using only cardboard and had the chance to build and programme a robot using a Raspberry Pi.

It was a great day out and lots of fun for everyone.

Well done to all of Year 6 for their performance in todays Class Assembly.

It was great to see them all getting involved and working together to perform.

they should all be very proud of themselves.

Welcome back to the new school year in Year 6!

 

This term we will be exploring British History through the topic;

Off With Their Heads!

 

We will be finding out about some of Britain's famous Tudors including Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, Francis Drake and William Shakespeare.

 

We will also be looking at the lives of rich and poor people in Tudor times and investigating the major events which had an impact on peoples everyday lives.
