Have a look at our pictures to see how much we had.
Shape Problem Solving
We have been working really hard developing our problem solving skills this term. This week we have had the challenge of trying to fit all of our boxes onto an A3 piece of paper. We weren't allowed to put the boxes on top of each other and the boxes weren't allowed to go over the edges of the paper. We were also trying to hide as much of the paper as possible. Have a look at the pictures to see some of the solutions that we came up with.

Look at Our Writing
We are very proud of all of our children in Reception Class and how hard they are working with their writing. We really enjoy writing sentences in the morning and have remembered our 4 key steps to a great sentence;
1. Remember to start with a capital letter
2. We must have a full stop at the end of a sentence
3. Have a finger space between each word
4. It must make sense!!!
Have a look at some of our amazing sentences.
Growing Our Own Beanstalks
We have been learning all about Spring with Mrs Edmonds and Jack and the Beanstalk with Mr Salmon. We thought that it would be a great idea to plant our own beans and look after them in the classroom. We make sure that they are watered every day and that they get enough sunlight for their energy to grow. We are amazed at how quickly they are growing. Poppy's is currently the tallest!!! Soon we will be taking them home to plant in our gardens.

Our children are making excellent progress with their physical development and have loved using the school hall apparatus. We all talked about how to keep safe when using the climbing frame and how it doesn't matter how high we climb compared to others but how we challenge and better ourselves. We loved climbing, jumping and balancing and demonstrated excellent self-care in keeping ourselves safe.

To help bring this day to life we had a special visitor, Izumi, who came to the classroom, answered our questions and taught us how to count to 10. Did you know that Japanese children walk to school alone and that they need to take their shoes off at school?
We collaged Japanese flags, created our own Cherry Blossom trees using an empty cola bottle and learnt how to write our names in Japanese. We all loved the day and would like to thank Izumi for visiting us.
