Every Monday a team of volunteer storytellers from local churches leads our Open the Book assembly. The storytellers present dramatised Bible stories in a lively, engaging and compelling way using props, costumes, puppets and of course the children. Experienced educators have helped to prepare the Open the Book programme and the stories are based around The Lion Storyteller Bible, by Bob Hartman. Every story is scripted and comes with direction guides, which Open the Book storytellers follow. The stories feature well-known characters, but they’re also about important values like faith, courage, patience and bravery. The Open the Book programme is a key element in the school’s provision for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education.
Open the Book is about storytelling, not preaching or evangelising, so children of all faith – or those with none- can watch and enjoy the stories for their own sake.

We welcome Pauline Whitworth (centre) to the Open the Book team and her first day with the team was at our whole school assembly on Monday 1st February. Pauline is excited about being on the team and is looking forward to not only narrating but having a go at acting roles too.
